Get Involved with Varsity CA

There are many ways to make a difference in your community and support conservative values in Alberta. You don't have to be a member of the Board to be a member of a committee or even to chair or manage an activity/event.

Become a UCP Member

Shape Alberta's Future - Be part of the grassroots movement that influences government policy and helps build a stronger Alberta for future generations

Support Conservative Causes

Conservative principles don't defend themselves – they need YOU to champion them in your community.

Being a UCP member means more than just voting – it means actively promoting the conservative values that make Alberta strong, free, and prosperous. From fighting for lower taxes and fiscal responsibility to defending Alberta's energy sector and standing up against federal overreach, conservative causes need passionate advocates who will speak up when it matters most.

Here's how YOU can advance conservative causes across Alberta:

Turn your passion into action:

  • Write letters to newspapers defending conservative positions

  • Engage in respectful dialogue with friends, family, and colleagues

  • Share factual information on social media to counter liberal narratives

  • Attend town halls and public meetings to voice conservative viewpoints

  • Support conservative candidates and causes with your time and resources

Alberta's conservative future depends on voices like yours speaking up today.

The liberal establishment has megaphones – the media, universities, and government bureaucracies. But we have something more powerful: authentic Albertans who believe in freedom, opportunity, and personal responsibility. When you speak up for conservative causes, you're not just sharing an opinion – you're defending the values that built this province and will secure its future.

Ready to be Alberta's conservative voice? The causes that matter to your family need your advocacy starting now.

Join a Committee

UCP committees are the backbone of our grassroots conservative movement, where members turn their passion into action.

These volunteer-driven teams tackle everything from policy development to election preparation, offering you the chance to develop new skills, build lasting relationships with fellow conservatives, and make a real impact in your community. Whether you're interested in fundraising, communications, youth engagement, or policy work, there's a committee that matches your interests and expertise.

The best part? You don't need to be a board member to join a committee or even chair one – we welcome all members who want to contribute to our shared conservative vision.

Available Committees and What They Do:

Policy and Governance Committee - Shape the future of conservative policy by reviewing current UCP positions, drafting policy resolutions for provincial AGMs, and ensuring members can express their ideas on key issues affecting Alberta

Fundraising Committee - Build the financial foundation for conservative success by organizing fundraising events, developing donor lists, planning email and phone campaigns, and helping your constituency association reach its $50,000 target

Communications Committee - Control the conservative narrative by managing social media platforms, creating newsletters, producing promotional materials for events, and ensuring consistent messaging that reflects UCP values

Election Readiness Committee - Prepare for electoral victory by coordinating pre-election planning, building volunteer teams, conducting poll analysis, and ensuring your constituency is ready to win when the election is called

Membership Committee - Grow the conservative movement by recruiting new members, managing membership renewals, building relationships within the membership base, and working toward the goal of 1,000+ members per constituency

Youth Committee - Engage the next generation of conservatives by connecting with campus clubs, organizing youth-focused events, providing fresh perspectives on social media strategy, and ensuring young voices are heard in party activities

Volunteer Recruitment Committee - Build the volunteer army needed for campaign success by maintaining lists of willing volunteers, contacting past volunteers, and identifying new prospects who can contribute even just a few hours during election time

Events Committee - Create memorable experiences that strengthen the conservative community by planning social gatherings, coordinating with other committees on major events, and building opportunities for members to connect and network

Finance Committee - Ensure fiscal responsibility by working with the CFO to oversee budgets, providing financial oversight for the party, and helping fulfill fiduciary responsibilities (requires CPA designation for some positions)

Run for Office: Alberta Needs YOUR Leadership

The time for sitting on the sidelines is over – Alberta needs conservative leaders who will fight for our values, our economy, and our future.

You don't need to be a career politician to make a difference. Some of Alberta's most effective conservative leaders started as concerned citizens who decided to step up when their community needed them. Whether you're a business owner, teacher, farmer, or working professional, your real-world experience and conservative principles are exactly what Alberta needs in the Legislature.

Available Committees and What They Do:

Take the First Step Today - If you've been a UCP member for at least six months, you're eligible to seek a nomination. Don't wait for the "perfect" time – Alberta needs your voice now. Email nominations@unitedconservative.ca to request your Nomination Contestant Questionnaire.

Build Your Conservative Coalition - Successful nomination contestants work hard to identify supporters, sell memberships, and organize effectively. This is grassroots democracy in action – where your ability to connect with fellow conservatives matters more than name recognition or deep pockets.

Communications Committee - Control the conservative narrative by managing social media platforms, creating newsletters, producing promotional materials for events, and ensuring consistent messaging that reflects UCP values

Leverage Professional Development - Consider resources like Equal Voice (https://www.equalvoice.ca/), which provides training and support for women considering elected office. Their programs can help you develop campaign skills, build confidence, and connect with networks of support.

Represent Real Alberta Values - Bring your authentic conservative perspective to the Legislature. Whether you're passionate about defending property rights, supporting small business, protecting parental rights, or standing up to federal overreach, Alberta needs MLAs who understand these issues firsthand.

Make a Generational Impact - As a conservative MLA, you'll help shape policies that affect Alberta families for decades to come. From education and healthcare to economic development and constitutional issues, your decisions will secure Alberta's conservative future.

What the nomination process involves:

  • Complete the candidate questionnaire and background checks

  • Pay a $1,000 application fee (with $500 going to your local constituency association)

  • Provide a $1,000 good conduct bond (refundable)

  • Gather nomination petition signatures from local UCP members

  • Participate in Local Constituency Nomination Committee interview

  • Campaign to win support from UCP members in your constituency

Ready to answer the call? Here's what sets successful conservative candidates apart:

  • Authentic Conservative Values - Voters can tell when you genuinely believe in conservative principles versus just saying what you think they want to hear

  • Community Connection - Strong roots in your constituency and genuine relationships with local residents

  • Work Ethic - Willingness to knock doors, attend events, and put in the effort to earn every vote

  • Vision for Alberta - Clear ideas about how conservative policies can make Alberta stronger and more prosperous

Alberta is facing critical challenges that demand conservative solutions. From fighting federal interference and promoting economic growth to defending individual freedoms and supporting families, we need MLAs who will stand firm on conservative principles.

Your community is counting on you to step forward.

The question isn't whether you're qualified – if you're a committed conservative who cares about Alberta's future, you have what it takes. The question is whether you're ready to turn your conservative convictions into conservative action that changes laws, protects freedoms, and builds a stronger Alberta.
